Newton's Laws and gravitational forces

The motion we defined in the previous unit is governed by observable laws. We will focus our attention on three Laws proposed by Sir Isaac Newton. Additionally, we will practice identifying various forces, calculating their net impact (ex. net force), and making predictions about an object's motion based on our findings.

Warm-ups and exit Tickets

As discussed in class, we will be completing a warm-up EVERY DAY. Should time allow, an exit ticket will be also be done. The power point below is a collection of these activities.
  • Daily Projections ppt - As of 1/15

Please Note:
  • The 'As of' date will change each time the power point is updated.
  • Slides without dates are problems that MAY be used in the future.
  • At the end of the unit, any unused slide can be completed for extra credit.

Force Notes

Forces ppt- These notes are to be recorded in your notebook.
  • The next notebook check will include in-class activities found in this powerpoint.

Extra Credit

As we complete the unit, some intended assignments will not be completed in class. Below are these extra assignments that, if completed, can replace a similar assignment, or earn student a maximum of 5pts on the test. (At least 70% accuracy is required.)
  • 9th Planet or Discovery of Neptune- Write a full page (front & back, 12pt, double space) exploring how the Law of Gravitation was used to discovery these two planets.
  • Collisions Virtual Lab- Complete individually and with thoughtful details. Save electronic journal as a pdf & email it to the teacher.
  • Quizlet or Kahoot- Create a game to review unit material in preparation for a test.

Practice Assignments

Most practice will be done on separate pages that will be handed in to the teacher. A checklist of these assignments, their due dates, and the last date they will be accepted is listed below. This list will also be visible in class as a poster.
'Get stamped' and Sub work are in-class participation only, and will not be accepted late!
